Visiting clinics

Am going to the remote clinics with Dr. Lindner (SOP Director) and Dr. Mike (here from New Zealand.) The patients are mostly on antiretroviral treatment - many also have tuberculosis. The clinics are full of very sick people, including children. The place was packed. People have to walk miles, and miles (over the most ridiculous mountain terrain… up, down, up down… I don’t think I could get up one of those hills without being spent… and I am healthy.)

Thank You Jake

When I first arrived in Nkandla this year, I learned that Sizanani Outreach Programme (SOP) needed some technical assistance... a database to help them manage a sponsorship project that volunteers from Germany initiated. It was clear that the sponsorship project would take off and that a simple, effective database would be instrumental in managing the resources and ensuring that the children were properly served. While I am pretty computer savvy, Access is not my specialty. So, I sent an email to our friend Jake Jacobs who agreed to help. Within a week, Jake developed a database and he continues to offer technical assistance to the SOP. Thank you, Jake.
